Devendra Jhajharia Creates History, Becomes The First Indian To Win 2 Paralympic Golds


Devendra Jhajharia, honored by the Arjuna award and Padma Shri in the year 2004 and 2012, respectively, continues India’s medal tally in the Rio Olympics by winning another Gold in Javelin throw F46 event. With this achievement, Devendra also becomes the first Indian to win two Paralympic Golds for the country.

Devendra had set a world record in 2004 Athens Paralympics with a throw of 62.15 meters. In this year’s games, he broke his own record with the throw of 63.97 meters winning his second Gold medal. He was 8 years old when his hand had to be amputated after he was electrocuted while climbing a tree.But nothing could stop him from fulfilling his ambitions and cross the biggest milestones ahead of him.
