The sudden death of a celebrity creates shockwaves around the world of fans and the recent news regarding the same is no exception. Assamese actress Bidishah Bezbaruah, last seen in the detective comedy flick Jagga Jasoos, was found dead in her Gurugram apartment under mysterious circumstances.
The actress was found dead inside her ninth floor Gurugram flat, hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta tied around her neck, on Monday evening.
The police have arrested her husband Nisheeth Jha, after her father accused him of having an extra-marital affair. Earlier that day, Bidisha had called him to say that she would be seeking a divorce, after one year of marriage, on the grounds of his affair outside marriage.
She is well known in the Assamese TV industry as an actress and a playback singer. She also made a fleeting appearance in a dance sequence of Jagga Jasoos. Two weeks ago, Bidisha moved to Gurugram with Nisheeth and joined advertising and PR agency Publicis Communications’ Udyog Vihar.
Her father Ashwini Kumar Bezbaruah said,
“She was not happy in her marriage and things turned worse in the last few months. It was around 9 pm on Monday when I received a call from the police that my daughter was found hanging in her flat. On the same day, she had called me around 5 pm and said she wanted a divorce. I asked her to be calm, but she refused to listen and disconnected the phone call, saying `let me take my own decision’. I immediately called up her husband in Mumbai, asking him to be with her, but he flatly refused. After a few hours, we got this unfortunate news.”
An FIR has been registered against Nisheeth under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC at Sushant Lok police station. Such an instance is the latest in the series of suicides resulting from failed celebrity relationships, where one takes the drastic step of ending one’s life.
