Ranveer Singh is always known to be exuberant on and off screen, playing diverse roles with vigour. His upcoming flick ‘Padmavati’ is a highly anticipated one, as we will once again see the Ranveer Singh in a historical drama. So, one would guess that in this romantic period movie, we would once again see Ranveer woo Deepika Padukone as his love interest. But, think again! As she is not the only one!
Ranveer Singh, who portrays the brutal ruler Alauddin Khilji has a history that shows his relationship with Indian-born general Malik Kafur. Kafur’s character is being played by Jim Sarbh, the actor who gained accolades after playing the role of one of the hijackers in Neerja.
According to the renowned historian Devdutt Patnaik, Khilji had bought Kafur from a slave market in Gujarat after being ‘mesmerised by his beauty,’ during one of his ‘bacha baazi’ outings. It is not clear how young Kafur was when he got involved with Khilji but he later became the ruler’s chief advisor.
The makers of Padmavati have not confirmed nor rejected Khilji’s bisexual orientation. One would have to wait for the movie to make to the big screen to find out about it! This is the third time Ranveer Singh is starred opposite Deepika Padukone, who plays Padmavati. It also stars Shahid Kapur as her husband Rawal Ratan Singh.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the first look of Padmavati was out. Deepika Padukone looks drop dead gorgeous as the Queen Padmavati!
Twitter went head over heels over her look!
