After demonetization did away with the old notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 and introduced new notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000, the RBI has decided that as a part of remonetization of our cash-crunched country, it will introduce never seen before news notes of Rs. 200!
A top government official has told the news agency ANI that a print order has been placed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The process of printing Rs 200 denomination notes is being undertaken to further improve the current situation of lower denomination notes in the country.
The official design and look has not been released, though there are several images being circulated in the social media regarding the same.
Features of the new Rs. 200:
- Advanced security features to prevent counterfeit money.
- Various quality and security checks at govt printing press.
- Just like Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 notes, the new Rs. 200 notes will also undergo changes in its security features every 3-4 years.
The new notes will help citizens to transact at lower denominations which has only Rs. 100 as of now. The changes in the design and security features of the new notes is a part of the government to curb counterfeit money that aids terrorism. The previous old notes were criticized for having few changes done, even after decades of circulation, leading to fake money scams.
