Mumbai, the financial hub of the city where thousands flock in to build up dreams, can be harsh sometimes, killing those dreams. In some cases, it happens quite literally. As many as 22 people, commuting to office, died due to stampede!

The incident reportedly took place around 11 AM. Due to heavy rain, people gathered at the foot-over bridge, which resulted in a stampede. Other reasons cited is a rumor of a short-circuit that caused a panic amongst the crowd.
At least 36 others were injured and six are critical. The victims were taken to the nearby KEM Hospital in Parel.

There have been reports for repairing the bridge, which is old and narrow and not strong enough to handle the busy crowd. “It was a disaster waiting to happen,” remarked a local resident.
