The NCRB had revealed an astonishing fact – Rape occurs in India in every 20 mins. Then came one of the most brutal rape cases that India had ever witnessed – Nirbhaya rape in Delhi. It sent shock-waves to the entire nation. The barbaric torture of the victim in a moving bus was unfathomable. Candles were lit, laws were tweaked, people came together in support over Twitter and Facebook. But, apparently nothing seems changed as yet another case has come up, this time in Haryana.
My daughter was kidnapped and raped, culprits should be punished, we want justice for her. If administration had done its job well, an incident like this would have never happened: Father of the victim in Haryana's Jind rape case pic.twitter.com/TuyjN2Q46O

The body of a 15-yr-old girl was found near a canal close to a village named Budha Khera in the Jind district of Haryana. The injury marks on the body is a grim reminder of the Nirbhaya rape case. The Dalit teenager’s body was examined Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences. They have said that gang-rape case is a possibility and a foreign object was inserted in the body, which explains the damage in the internal organs.
From January 9, the girl was missing from Kurukshetra. A police complaint was lodged by her father on the 10th. After the discovery of her body, the police are suspecting the role of Dalit boy who co-incidentally has also been missing since 10th January.
Dr SK Dhattarwal, head of Forensic Medicine in PGIMS said,
“It doesn’t seem to be the case of rape by one person. She was probably sexually assaulted by more than two persons. They might have tried to thrust some object in her vagina also. Her liver was found ruptured. There was only a torn shirt on her body. The injuries were all around the body, on the face, neck, lips and chest. It appears that the victim had struggled a lot to escape from the sexual assault. The attackers might have tried to press her mouth also.”
It also appeared that she was drowned after the assault. There were about 250 policemen conducting the search for some clues, but have been unsuccessful. No arrests have been made so far. Law and order has not been successful in deterring the assaults and crime against women. Crime on the grounds of ‘Love Jihad’ are rampant too. Law should be fast enough to convict the guilty and awareness among the orthodox society should be of utmost importance in order to prevent such crimes.
